Nailing It: Must-Have Nail Colours for SS16
A new season means updating the colour palette of our clothes and makeup – and nails should not be an exception.
Whether you’re looking to refresh your collection of polishes at home, or need some inspiration for your next appointment at one of our salons, you’ll find plenty to get your claws into in this article.
Nail Colour Trend 1: Royal Blue
With Her Majesty turning 90 this month, we’re taking some tips from our sovereign and going royal blue for Spring/Summer. This colour is vibrant but sophisticated, though you can also go a few shades deeper for a more conservative look. To create this colour yourself, OPI ‘Blue In My Mind’ is an essential.
Nail Colour Trend 2: Latte
Nude nails never go out of fashion, but leave last season’s darker mochas behind and opt for a creamier latte shade. Pale nudes look effortlessly chic when teamed with a minimalist manicure, but make sure you ask your nail technician for a glossy, gel-like finish to stay on-trend.
Nail Colour Trend 3: Grey-Toned Pastels
While pastel shades can sometimes look a little cutesy for the office, the grey undertones of this season’s pastels add a sophisticated edge. Dusky pinks, mauves and greige hues will all tick the trend perfectly. Give OPI’s ‘Don’t Bossa Nova Me’ a try for cool-toned grey-pink that will look sensational with your summer tan.
Nail Colour Trend 4: Olive Green
Giving a whole new meaning to the term ‘green-fingered’, last season’s dominant khaki has been updated into sophisticated olive for this nail trend. High shine is essential to keep this look chic, so ask your nail technician for a gel polish or apply the OPI Top Coat at home for an intense glossy finish.
Nail Colour Trend 5: Cherry Red
It can be hard to let go of our winter favourites of deep red and maroon, but this season’s trend for pigmented cherry red will make the transition a little easier. While bolder than its winter counterpart, cherry red still looks classic and refined.
