Stand Up, Save Lives: Regis Supports Stand Up to Cancer
This year, we’re proud to announce that we’ll be teaming up with Stand Up to Cancer to raise money for vital research into the disease. With the devastating fact that 1 in 2 of us will receive a cancer diagnosis in our lifetime, the work that this charity does is paramount to the cause – and now you can help raise money by simply visiting your local salon.
Until the 21st October, our salons will be taking part in a number of campaigns to raise money. This will include optional donations at the till for all guests following a service, as well as ad hoc fundraising days and events. All of our salons will be turning orange on the 21st – so keep an eye on your local Regis to see what else is going on on this huge fundraising day!
So, why have we chosen Stand Up to Cancer as our charity to support? Stand Up to Cancer uses 100% of the money raised on conducting translational research. The research that its scientists conduct in the lab is taken and transformed directly into new tests and treatments for cancer patients within the UK. Currently funding 30 research projects and trials across the country, Stand Up to Cancer is a vital driving force in the battle against the disease.
The charity’s fundraising throughout autumn culminates in the live telethon, shown on Channel 4. This special evening of entertainment, which first aired in 2012, has helped SU2C to raise an enormously impressive £25,000,000. However, there is still plenty of work to be done in the battle against cancer – and this means there is still a need to raise lots of money. This year’s telethon will take place on October 21st, and the roster for the evening is already shaping up to be a fantastic one. Along with the return of the popular celebrity version of Gogglebox, there will also be some one-off specials of old favourites including Davina McCall’s Streetmate and and The Crystal Maze, hosted this year by Stephen Merchant.
While we’re sure you’ll all be tuning in at home on the 21st, we also urge all of our guests to pop into salon before then to donate. Even the smallest contribution helps towards a big total, and together we can all change lives.
