Easy Updos For Spring/Summer
With festival season and summer holidays just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about some quick and simple updos to help beat the heat while making sure you stay looking on trend for the season. Our Creative Director Kieron Fowles has picked a few of his hottest updos for SS15:
Faux bob: It’s not technically an updo, but this style is great for keeping longer locks under control. Tucking up longer strands and securing them at the nape of your neck means you can update your style to rock this season’s hot bob cut but sill hold onto your longer tresses. I teamed up with Look Magazine recently to show you how to create the look in less than two minutes – check it out!
Loose bun: A low dishevelled bun is perfect for quickly getting your hair out of the way and it’s so low-commitment meaning you can relax and enjoy your holiday without worrying how your hair’s looking. I love Alexa Chung’s take on this style, with a chic centre parting. Prep dry hair with TIGI Catwalk Session Series Salt Spray and work through the mid-lengths using your fingers before pulling back sections of hair and securing them low at the back of your head using hair pins. Finish with a mist of DESIGNLINE Stand Still Ultimate Finisher.
Half up, half down: This style is always elegant and perfect for evening. Spritz DESIGNLINE Hot Stop Style Primer over dry hair before wrapping 3-4 inch sections of hair around the ghd Curve Creative Curl Wand to create loose curls. Warm some Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum through your hands and work through the curls to break them up and soften them into loose waves. Separate the the hair from in front of your ears on each side and pull back, securing loosely with a hair tie. Allow a few strands to fall out around the front to maximise the relaxed, bohemian vibe.
Wet-look ponytail: Ponytails are a huge trend for spring/ summer 2015 and it’s hard to find an easier style to master. Take it sleek and low for evening à la Poppy Delevingne. Work Sebastian Shine Crafter into the roots to create a high-shine wet-look texture then slick hair back into a low ponytail and secure with a hair elastic. Run some smoothing serum through the ends to tame any frizz and flyaways.
High ponytail: A sky-high ponytail is ideal for day time, especially if you’re headed for a day at the beach. Sweep your hair up and away from your face, securing high at the back of your head. Mist over some DESIGNLINE Freeze Spray to keep your ‘do in place. For a surfer chick vibe, start by creating loose waves as with the half up, half down style.
