Going Ombré for autumn!
Written by Ashley Birch – Regis Stylist at the Manchester Deansgate Salon
The Ombré trend is still a key player this season and with celebrities like Cheryl Cole starting to rock this look, Ombré is one of the most requested styles we create in Regis Salons. It’s showing no signs of slowing down, and we’re not surprised as it’s so versatile and easy to maintain.
When I was approached to create this look in the Deansgate salon, I wanted to take the traditional Ombré style and give it an autumnal twist! All you have to do at this time of year is glance out of the window and see how the rich red, orange, gold and yellow colours blend together so seamlessly. Autumn is a season full of feeling, depth and nostalgia. Think of the excitement of bonfire night, the snap of crisp mornings and the crunching of leaves underfoot – autumn is a season for the senses and I wanted to create a look which represented this.
To give the hair a feeling of depth and intensity I started with a deep luxurious red which blended into a fiery copper through the mid lengths and ends. I wanted to ensure that the look had a natural touch, so I applied the colour freehand. This gave the effect of the two colours blending and coming together seamlessly to create a flawless look.
To really show off and compliment the colour the cut needs to be considered. In this case I opted to create shorter layers teamed with shattered ends to give the look softness and movement. The fringe was kept just below the cheekbone, which gives the style a structure throughout the front.
The hair was then blow dried using a cocktail of Redken Quicktease and Kérastase Styling Touche Finale – making the hair voluptuous and giving it a healthy shine. To really enhance the shattered ends and add shine, I used Kérastase Styling Touche Finale and added Regis Redken Powder Grip for hold, texture and (even more) volume. The final result? A striking, autumnal look!
