How-To: 30 Second Knotted Ponytail Video Tutorial

Knotted Pony Tutorial

At Regis, we love easy, effortless hairstyles that still look elegant and on-trend, and the knotted pony is one such style. Knots were everywhere on the AW16 catwalks, and Cédric Charlier sent models down the Paris Fashion Week runway with sleek, knotted ponies (above left). Chic enough for the office, this relaxed but sophisticated style can be pulled together in less than a minute. Watch our video tutorial below to learn our Creative Director Kieron Fowles’ top tips to creating this simple but effective look.

One of the great things about the knotted pony is that it looks just as good on second-day hair as it does on freshly-washed hair. To make sure the hair isn’t too soft and slips out of the knots, prep it beforehand with a salt spray such as Sebastian’s Texture Maker. If you don’t have a salt spray, a spritz of dry shampoo will also add some texture and grip to hair just as well.

Knotted Pony: The Steps

1. Section hair into three even parts and tie the middle section with an elastic
2. Twist the two outer sections and tie them in a loose knot on top of the middle ponytail
3. Pass the two sections underneatht the pony and tie these in a loose knot here
4. Mist some shine spray such as the Bed Head Headrush Shine Spray over the style to finish
