How To Create A Knotted Chignon

Kate Winslet’s twist on the classic chignon from the 2016 Golden Globes is the perfect hairstyle for nights out or special occasions. Follow our Creative Director’s how-to guide to get the style at home…
STEP 1: Apply a texturising cream like Designline Texture Cream Casual Styler to damp lengths and ends before blow drying.
STEP 2: Curl random sections of hair using a curling iron (we recommend the ghd Curve Creative Curl Wand) for added texture.
STEP 3: Set hair into an irregular parting.
STEP 4: Bring the hair away from the face and fasten into a low ponytail.
STEP 5: Divide the hair into two sections; cross one over the other before bringing it underneath for a knotted effect.
STEP 6: Repeat the knotting technique a second time and secure with a hair tie.
STEP 7: Roll the knot under itself and pin into place to create a relaxed chignon. Finish with a mist of hold spray like Designline Finishing Spray Freeze Spritz.
