Prom Hair Tutorial #2: Half-Up Halo Twist

With prom and wedding season in full swing, we know that a lot of you are looking for the perfect DIY prom hairstyle. To help, we’ve put together a series of tutorials that are super-simple to recreate at home but will definitely turn heads. In our last tutorial, we showed you how to create the rolled chignon, but if you’re not into up-dos then we’ve got the perfect prom style for you: the half-up halo twist.

Halo braids are a popular occasion hairstyle, but unless you’re a pro at plaits, they can be pretty hard to recreate at home. This is why we created the halo twist – a simpler version of the halo braid that looks just as pretty. Watch our video below to see how Maria creates this beautiful half-up style in just a couple of steps.

This prom style is perfect for girls with long hair as it showcases longer locks; however, it looks just as amazing on mid-length hair and long bobs. As long as the hair is long enough to wrap around the head for the ‘halo’ effect, all you need is a simple hair tie and a couple of grips.

Maria left her style quite tousled, but for a more polished finish you can curl the hair beforehand with one of our hair curlers. You can also make sure the style stays put all night long with a light hold hairspray such as EIMI’s Stay Styled.
