Tackle the Build Up
Our hair is exposed to a lot over the course of the day, from smoke and pollution to the smell of food and even our own hair products. The build-up from all of these things can leave our hair dull and flat, even after your normal hair wash. To strip away all of the product build-up and impurities, use a clarifying shampoo once every 7-14 days. We love the three products below for instantly refreshing our hair and leaving it with a healthy shine:
Curly hair can look voluminous and bouncy, but did you know that hair looks glossier when it’s straight? This is because the heat from the plates seals the hair cuticle, helping it to lie flat. This increases the surface area of the hair, meaning that it can reflect a lot more light.
Work From the Inside Out
What you put into your body is just as important as what you put onto your hair. Try to incorporate foods that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are known to help plump skin and add shine to your hair. Nuts, fish and avocado are all great sources of fatty acids, so get munching!
Fight the Frizz
Because it doesn’t reflect the light, frizz is the main thing standing between a lot of people and the glossy hair they would love. Swapping your normal shampoo and conditioner for moisturising alternatives is one of the easiest ways to combat frizz and add shine. We’ve included some of our favourites below.
Add Some Colour
Hair that is one colour all-over can sometimes appear one-dimensional, whereas multi-tonal hair catches the light more and in turn looks shinier. If you think your hair could use a boost, speak to your local Regis stylist about adding some colour into your hair. Highlights or balayage are perfect for people wanting something relatively low-maintenance.
