Style File: Poppy Delevingne
With her luscious long locks and readiness to try her hand at any style, it’s no surprise that Poppy Delevingne is our newest style crush.
Though her signature style is effortless, bohemian waves, Poppy isn’t afraid to try new things; from on-trend dual-textured styles through to glamorous updos, we don’t think there’s a single look she hasn’t managed to wow us with!
We asked our Creative Director, Kieron Fowles, to share a few of his top tips for recreating Poppy’s effortless style:
“I absolutely love Poppy’s colour. It’s beautifully sun-kissed and low-commitment which is a key trend this season. Even better, it complements her skin tone perfectly and looks like it could easily be her natural hair colour. To achieve a similar colour, ask your stylist for a balayage effect with gradual lightening of the hair as you move from slightly darker roots down to blonde tips.
As for styling, there’s a few that I’m a huge fan of at the moment. The first, no surprise, it her beautifully tousled style. This look can easily be achieved by simply plaiting the hair when damp. Work through Sebastian Mousse Forte through the lengths and ends before splitting hair into two sections and loosely braiding each. Release them in the morning and run through some DESIGNLINE Silk Drops to keep waves smooth and tame any flyaways.
To take your style through to evening, try curling your hair with a large barrelled tong or wand. This will add glamour while still retaining a relaxed vibe. Begin by working DESIGNLINE Texture Balance Liquid Shine through towel-dried hair before blow drying. Next, mist over DESIGNLINE Hot Stop Style Primer before taking 3-4 inch sections and wrapping them around the ghd Curve Classic Wave Wand. Once all of the hair has been curled, gently brush them out using a paddle brush for a softer, more modern finish. Secure with a spritz of TIGI Catwalk Firm Hold Hairspray and run a small amount of Wella SP Luxe Oil through the ends to keep them smooth.
Poppy is one of those people who looks equally as good with super sleek styles as she does with curls. Her sleek side plait from her appearance at The Museum of Modern Art last November is definitely one of my favourite looks of hers. It incorporates so many trends for spring/summer 2015, including braids and wet look roots so it’s a good one to master! Start by setting your hair into a strong side parting before blow drying smooth. Once dry, mist Sebastian Liquid Gloss onto your roots to create the super-glossy wet look texture. Smooth down the rest of the hair with Kérastase Styling Touche Finale serum and secure in a low ponytail, slightly to one side. Plait the ponytail, finishing about 1-2 inches from the end and secure with a hair elastic. Complete the look with a spritz of Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine spray to add that high shine finish.
