Style Watch: Golden Globes 2016

The biggest names in film and television descended on the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California on Sunday night for the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards.
Setting the bar high for the rest of 2016’s award season, there was plenty of style and beauty inspiration on the red carpet. Here are our style winners of the night…
Clutching her Golden Globe (for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture) we couldn’t keep our eyes off Kate Winslet. Her navy Ralph Lauren gown was complemented by her hairstyle choice of dishevelled chignon. This look is the epitome of understated glamour and looks set to be a popular style on 2016’s red carpets. We asked our Creative Director to show us how to get the style at home – check it out here.
Amber Heard never fails to turn heads and her appearance at the Golden Globes was no different. Tucking her long locks up into a faux bob, she joined Kate in demonstrating how shorter ‘dos can pack just as much wow factor as longer styles. The faux bob has been a staple of the Fashion Week front rows for the past few seasons and is now making its mark on the red carpet. Recreate the look yourself with our how to guide.
A sleek low ponytail is always a chic hairstyle choice for evening and Carly Chaikin wore the look beautifully. This classic look is ideal if you want a low key hairstyle to complement a bolder dress choice. And, another plus: it’s so easy to do at home! Take a look at our tutorial for more tips.
We love to see A Listers continuing to embrace the grey hair trend with both Jamie Lee Curtis and Annie Guest rocking the shade with pride. If you’re thinking about going grey gracefully like Jamie, book in for a complimentary consultation at one of our salons where our stylists will be happy to discuss your options. If you’ve not got those natural greys coming through yet, ask in salon about our semi-permanent pastel colours for a youthful take on the style like Annie’s.
Amy Adams looked flawless with the awards season staple: Hollywood curls. This style really never gets old and is so flattering on both long and shorter lengths. And yes, we also have a how to guide for this style too!
