The Oscars 2015

M

Last night Hollywood’s finest descended on the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles for the 87th Academy Awards ceremony, the most eagerly anticipated night of the awards season. The night certainly didn’t disappoint with emotional acceptance speeches and stunning performances – we particularly enjoyed Lady Gaga’s tribute to The Sound of Music’s 50th anniversary! And we were blown away by the array of beautiful gowns and elegant hairstyles on show.

We couldn’t wait to see who walked away with the gongs but were were also keen to see if Kieron‘s (our UK Creative Director) trend predictions for the night rang true! Here, Kieron gives his awards for the most stylish hair of the evening…

“Without fail Sienna Miller and Rosamund Pike have to be my hottest hair heroes of the night – wearing their hair sleek and off the face for an elegant yet low key look. This is a great example of how versatile a bob cut can be: your style is by no means limited when you opt for a shorter ‘do!

M

Step One: Prep towel-dried hair with a dollop of DESIGNLINE Root Boost Volumizing Foam before blow drying your hair, directing it away from the face.

Step Two: Once dry, run Redken Two Smooth through the lengths to add moisture and smooth away any frizz or flyaways.

Step Three: Brush the hair back off your hair and spritz with Paul Mitchell Fast Dry Sculpting Spray to keep shorter strands in place.

Step FourTake longer sections of hair from each side, twisting them as you work them round to the back of your head and pin into place at the nape of your neck.

Step Five: To finish, lightly mist DESIGNLINE Freeze Spritz.

Jessica Chastain and Reese Witherspoon rocked sleek partings and relaxed natural movement through their lengths to perfection….

Step One: This look works with both centre and side partings to set yours and work through Wella Professionals Natural Volume Mousse through damp locks and blow dry.

Step Two: Section off the hair in front of your ears and secure the remaining hair out of the way. Releasing the top section, prep it with DESIGNLINE Shine Mist before combing each side back to meet in a ponytail at the nape of your neck. Let the remaining hair fall down to hide the ponytail and created the smooth & sleek front section to contrast with the textured body of the hair.

Step Three: Take the ghd Curve Soft Curl Tong and curl random sections. Brush through to relax the wave and secure with Sebastian Shaper Fierce.

Emma Stone stole the show with a stunning take on classic Hollywood waves, which has been a big trend throughout the awards season.

Step One: Prep hair with DESIGNLINE Volumizing Foam and High Gloss spray before blow drying. Once dry, create a strong side parting on your preferred side.

Step Two: Flat wrap horizontal sections of hair over the ghd Curve Classic Wave Wand and hold diagonally for 6-8 seconds before releasing to create a strong wave. Don’t take the wave higher than your cheekbone for the perfect red carpet waves.

Step Three: Mist over DESIGNLINE Stand Still Ultimate Finisher and gently brush through using the ghd Paddle Brush to soften the waves.

Step Four: For a modern take on the trend, tuck the hair on the less prominent side of your parting behind the ear and loosely twist it back and pin into place underneath the waves. Secure your style with DESIGNLINE Firm Hold Mist.
