Top Five Hairstyles Ever: Audrey Hepburn

At number one in our top five retro hairstyles countdown is one of the most iconic actresses of all time – Audrey Hepburn, who starred in many famous films such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s, My Fair Lady, Wait Until Dark and many more. Not only was Audrey a famous actress and fashion icon but she also was a UNICEF goodwill ambassador and devoted most of her time in later life contributing to the organisation. Belgium-born Hepburn was also well-known for some of her famous quotes, one of which is a personal favourite – “I believe in pink, that laughing is the best calorie-burner and that happy girls are the prettiest girls.”

Audrey Hepburn’s style was impeccable and her tiny frame was the inspiration behind the original little black dress by Givenchy. Her hair always looked beautiful, groomed and well-styled, and she was the epitome of what being a lady is about.

Many women from all over the world have looked up to Hepburn and her style, whether it be her neat vertical roll or her short elfin fringe, is still very much iconic even today. Sadly Hepburn died in 1993 but her legacy still lives on even in today’s fashion world. Her iconic image is still seen in shops, coffee shops and even as canvas images in people’s bedrooms. She is also very popular with brides-to-be who quite often request her classic look.

To recreate a style similar to that of Audrey’s follow these tips:

• Part the hair from ear to ear,
• Backcomb the bottom section and gently twist into place and fix with grips,
• Backcomb the top section and with a soft brush and brush neatly into place to meet the already-pinned section into the crown area.
• Your hair should now resemble a look to compliment the iconic style of our number one hair icon.

To finish use the ghd final shine shine spray for the ultimate shine and gloss and fix with ghd final fix hairspray for a great hold. You may want to accessorise your look with an “LBD” and hey presto!

Audrey Hepburn we salute for for being our number one hair icon of all time!
