A/W14 Trend Predictions

aw trends

Summer is just getting into full swing and we hope you’re rocking those seasonal shades and styles while you’re off sipping cocktails but we’re here with A/W14 hottest topics to keep you one step ahead of the game. Whether you’re considering a full-blown hair makeover or a just simple style shake up as the seasons change, these trends can be tailored to suit your personal hair type, taste and preference.

First up we have the super-chic side plait. This trend has been creeping up on us all summer as fishtail braids dominate the style stakes but it will be here in full force come Autumn/Winter 2014. This look is great for a multitude of reasons, the first being its combination of low maintenance minimal effort with a show-stopping finish. A beautiful side plait can be created with both dry or damp hair making it extremely versatile and ideal for days when you need a quick but glamorous fix.

Plaiting the hair whilst damp means you’re also cutting down on heat styling which your locks are sure to thank you for. Start by leaving the hair to dry naturally, until it is about 75% dry and apply a little ghd Smooth & Finish Serum to the ends. Then, sweep all of the hair round to one side and plait. You can even tease you plait out the following day to reveal perfect soft waves or secure as a classic side ponytail instead for another take on the trend.

Partings are set to take the trend stakes by storm whether you’re opting for a sweeping side finish or a chic centre part. The great thing about this simple touch is that it can be used to compliment most styles from poker straight tresses to bouncy voluminous curls. A great parting can also make for the perfect finishing touch for a low ponytail secured at the nape or a practical bun for days when you need that extra control. Before blow drying the hair, add a spritz of Kérastase Cristalliste Serum Lumiere to the lengths and ends then when your locks are dry, apply a little more to the roots for high impact shine

If partings aren’t your thing then you’ll be glad to hear that the swept back style is back with a vengeance this year. As our male counterparts are rocking the fifties slick back revival, we’re borrowing from the masculine trend with front sections pushed back and lengths kept poker straight to add a feminine touch. Last season, a wet look effect was the must-have finish but this time round it’s all about matte texture and definition. Our experts recommend Fudge Matte Hed Extra for long-lasting pliable hold that leaves you with a dynamic, defined ‘do through day and night.

So whether you’re looking for a hair transformation or a subtle change, book yourself in at your nearest Regis salon and one of our experts will guide you through the best options to suit your hair, complexion and overall style. We’re looking forward to seeing you for an A/W14 revamp!
