How to create a relaxed ponytail – step by step guide
Let’s be real: That “I woke up like this” messy ponytail can sometimes seem a little hard to pull off, especially if you’re not sure just how messy is too messy. We think we’ve found a happy medium between super messy and super polished with our relaxed ponytail style. In fact, (having relied on this style for several conference calls now) it’s actually incredibly easy to recreate. This relaxed ponytail is sleek and chic, without looking like too much of a try-hard!
So, smooth out your second day hair with straighteners or a hot brush and get ready to add a whole new ponytail to your go-to hairstyles list.
Create your preferred parting and pull out a couple (or a few) loose pieces to frame your face. You can add a soft wave as shown here or leave straight.
Comb the rest of your hair away from the face into a low pony, draping evenly over all or the top part of your ears. Spritz a little ghd hairspray to hold the hair in place and pat down any flyaways.
Secure your low pony at the nape of your neck using an elastic or a bungi.
Take a section of hair from underneath the pony and begin to wrap it around the base of the pony. This will disguise the elastic – secure discreetly with a bobby pin.
