Spring/Summer 2018 Hair Trends
As winter comes to an end, it’s time to start giving your hair a spring clean ready for SS18. We’ve quizzed our stylists on the key cuts, styles and colours for the new season, so your hair can look its best for Spring/Summer. Whether you’re jetting off to a hot country or dancing the night away at a festival, we have the future hair trends for you.
90s Hair Accessories
From scrunchies worn in understated, loose ponytails, to claw clips fashioned in textured layered hair, this spring/summer is undeniably the season of the 90s hair accessory. Grab your thick headbands and stretchy hair combs, as these pharmacy accessories have shifted from something you wear behind closed doors to the season’s hottest hair trend.
2018 is the year to say goodbye to cool tones and bring a bit of warmth to your look. Hair coloured with honey, strawberry blonde or copper tones can warm up your complexion and add radiance to the skin. Want to keep your colour as vibrant as possible between touch-ups? Make sure you choose a sulphate free shampoo for colour treated hair, such as Fudge’s Colour Lock Shampoo, and avoid washing it too often.
When it comes to introducing grunge into your spring/summer hair trend, we’re talking more post-shower vibes than Edward Scissorhands. A wet look, tousled style is officially the high fashion look to be working on your next night out.
So, how do you achieve the wet look outside of the shower? The easiest way is to style your hair while still wet – we like using a gel such as the Moroccanoil Styling Gel. Avoid setting products such as mousse, as this will leave your hair matte as opposed to the high-shine look we need.
Balayage and ombre might have dominated the hair world for a while, but this season is time to say goodbye. Instead, we’re welcoming full heads of colour in a rich, solid hue. From creamy blonde to rich brunette, it’s all about colour that is taken right to the root. Unsure how to work this trend after seasons of highlights? We offer a free colour consultation in all of our salons, so you can get the best advice possible from your local Regis stylists.
The idea of cutting in a fringe can be a scary one – especially if you’ve spent months growing one out before – but our stylists guarantee this will be one of the hottest fashions of the season. The favoureda fringe of 2018 are blunt and choppy (think Chrissy Teigen’s recent bangs cut in by celebrity favourite Jen Atkin), or the autumn/winter favourite curtain fringe. These centre-parted bangs look best when the hair is tousled, using products such as the Designline Flexible Finisher, or when wearing a super-smooth look.
