Updos for autumn
For A/W 14, updos are all about low-maintenance, fuss-free style. Think soft, feminine, romantic and you’re on the right track. We asked our Head of Education, Becci, to share some of her favourite updos for the new season.
“I love a bohemian twist on a classic updo. To achieve this season’s effortless yet sophisticated undone look, I recommend loosely tonging the hair first (try the new ghd Creative Curl Wand). Start by applying Sebastian Texture Maker to towel-dried hair before blasting it dry (no need for a precise blow dry). Follow with Sebastian Re-Shaper to prep the hair before you tong. The more tousled and flyaway the look, the better.
One of my favourite easy-to-master styles is a relaxed take on the faux bob. To get the look, secure hair into an off-centre low bun and let shorter layers lie loose around the face. This look is the perfect time-saving chic ‘do for when you’re short on time.
For a more attention-grabbing style, playful plaits were just one of many stylish takes on the classic braid to hit the catwalk this season. When opting for the braid, the key is to not be too ‘overneat’ – a few loose strands will stop it looking too school-girlish.
These are just two of my favourite updos for A/W 14, there’s loads more to choose from. Other noteworthy styles set to be big for autumn are perfectly pinned bouffants and sky-high top knots with extra volume at the crown.
