With New York Fashion Week AW16 kicking off tomorrow, we can’t wait to see what fashion and beauty trends lie in store for autumn/ winter. It might seem a million miles away but it’ll be here before you know it! Here are the key hair trends we’re expecting to see on the catwalks over the coming weeks…
Heavily inspired by nature, this trend has an outdoorsy, almost woodland feel. Styling should be minimalist, so we’re embracing natural curls and textures, still in keeping with spring/ summer’s 1970s vibe. Think wild, unruly, untamed: your key products are curl definition products. Keep the finish matte and for the colour, choose warm, autumnal shades: go for copper, fox fur or intense chocolate.
Think all-American girl with high fashion undertones. This trend sees the classic California highlights take a softer turn. Incorporate tones of warm beige and cocoa brown rather than bleach blonde. Colour placement is important for this. Ask your hair stylist for lighter tones around the face to enhance your complexion and where the sun naturally catches your hair for a natural-looking finish. This colour technique isn’t just for blondes either, it can work just as well for brunettes and redheads.
Keep styling matte with plenty of texture. Invest in a salt spray to achieve the tousled look with ease.
2015’s granny chic trend saw many of us embracing our grey. For autumn/ winter 2016 this eill evolve into ice white, silvery tones. We love, love, love this trend and can’t wait to try it out! Take it to the next level with unexpected placements of other colour combinations: try a flash of subtle pink through your layers. Or, another hot colour for 2016 is denim blue – try adding a tint to your fringe for a statement finish.
Speaking of fringes, if you only make one change to your look for AW16, make it this! Building on the 1970s trend again, choppy fringes are an easy way to update your hairstyle. Keep it heavy and long for a peekaboo effect which flatters most face shapes. Team it with loose, beachy textures amd earthy colour tones for the ultimate autumn/ winter look.
