New York Fashion Week: Diane von Furstenberg

We’ve been keeping a close eye on New York Fashion Week and a few highlights so far include Victoria Beckham’s chic minimalist take on spring/summer style and Jonathan Simkhai’s elegant collection. But our favourite show by far was Sunday’s presentation from Diane von Furstenberg, complete with a seemingly never-ending rosta of the most in-demand models: Gigi and Bella Hadid, Karlie Kloss and Lily Aldridge to name just a few!

The DVF SS16 collection is an evolution of 2015’s huge ’70s trend. There was plenty of chiffon, embroidery and floaty dresses on display and the vibe was fun and relaxed with tropical accents throughout – we love the floral hair accessories!

DVF made a feature of “getting ready hair” by sending her models out with equally beautiful pin curls followed by voluminous, disco-inspired curls. Wearing your prep hair out and about is an emerging trend that’s only set to get bigger so watch out for it (particularly around the Christmas party season.)

If you’re not ready to brave the world before your curls are perfectly placed and you want results quickly, we’d recommend using the ghd Curve Classic Curl Tong to recreate the look. The consistent heat across the medium-size barrel will help you create equal curls, full of classic glamour. Watch our how-to video below to see how to get the best results. Top tip: work the tong up above your cheekbone to get the 1970s style of the Diane von Furstenberg models and make sure your hair’s set in a strong side parting to keep your look bang on trend for the season.

The ghd Curl Hold Spray will make sure your style sticks and pack some super-smoothing DESIGNLINE Silk Drops Serum in your handbag to keep any flyaways at bay. Add a dash of metallic green or blue eyeshadow to perfect DVF’s SS16 beauty look.
