Spring/Summer Hair Trends
With the clocks turned back and spring in full flow, it’s time to wave goodbye to your favourite looks from autumn/winter and revamp your look for the warmer months.
The SS15 catwalks were awash with plenty of beautiful styles to suit almost every hair type and personality. From the summer staples of tousled waves and beachy textures to crimping’s unexpected combeback, we asked our Creative Director Kieron Fowles to share his take on this season’s key hair trends:
(Gisele Bundchen showcased the perfect boho waves at the Colcci Show, Sao Paulo Fashion Week)
Lived-in Texture: “Boho waves are epitomised by the likes of Poppy Delevingne and Kate Moss. Think relaxed holiday style: fasten damp hair into two loose plaits before you sleep to create that laid-back, effortless finish. For a more glamorous touch, wrap a few sections around the ghd Curve Creative Curl Wand for a stronger curl and seal with a mist of Sebastian Shine Shaker.”
(Laura Bailey’s Oscars halo braid is bang on trend for spring/summer)
Braids: “We’re moving well away from tight, highly polished braids. It’s time to embrace spring/summer’s key theme: laid-back luxe. It’s all about creating stunning, expensive-looking colours and styles with minimal effort. Braids are a great example of this. Precise, perfectly even French and Dutch plaits and pigtails are making way for more relaxed, modern styles.
Opt for an elegant halo braid with a few loose strands for special occasions or nights out. Separate hair into two sections before French braiding from the left side, working up towards your forehead and pin into place at the front. Continue the braid on the right, this time working from your forehead, round to the back and secure. To add plenty of texture to your style, work Fudge Salt Spray through towel-dried hair. Another stylish alternative, is to again split your locks into two sections before wrapping them around each other down the length of your hair to create a loose side twist. The key to perfecting your braid this season is to stop it looking too done: if a few strands fall out along the way, leave them – it’ll add to the bohemian vibe!”
(Amy Adams chose an elegant faux bob for the 2015 Academy Awards)
Faux Bob: “There’s no denying bobs are definitely holding onto their status as the cut of the moment but if you don’t want to part with your longer locks then a stylish faux bob is the perfect way to rock the trend. The best bit is it’s so simple to achieve! Take a look at our quick how-to video to get the look.”

Crimps: “One of my favourite SS15 styles has to be crimping! It’s not a total ’90s throwback to all-over tight crimps – think minimal sections of gentle crimps, pulled back into a low ponytail, as seen on the Stella McCartney runway. Your must-have tool for this? The Diva Professional Styling Mini Crimp & Lift. Oh, and don’t forget your heat protect spray!”
