Style Watch: BAFTA TV Awards 2016
There are few things that promise us as much glamour as an awards show, and last night’s Bafta Television Awards certainly delivered. As some of the biggest British stars came out in force to celebrate the nation’s TV, our eyes were as much on the red carpet style as they were on the award winners of the night.
So, which celebrities left us with serious hair and gown envy? Read on to find out…
The Britain’s Got Talent judge pulled out all of the stops in a stunning yellow Michael Costello gown, accessorised with simple gold jewellery and a contrasting silver belt. Alesha’s hair, which was chopped into a chic bob earlier in the year, was also effortlessly glamorous with loose waves. If you would love to achieve this look but aren’t quite brave enough to make the cut, then take a look at our Faux Bob Tutorial for the style without the commitment.
At no risk of being upstaged by her fellow BGT judge, Amanda Holden also looked utterly flawless. In a heavily embellished silver dress with chiffon trail, she wisely chose to keep her hair and makeup understated. The elegant low bun ensured all eyes were kept on the gown while still framing her face beautifully. It’s safe to say that Britain’s got style as well as talent.
Known for her unique style, Caroline Flack opted for red carpet glamour with a twist in a gorgeous black jumpsuit. Leg splits and this season’s must-have choker neckline made the look very current, as did her summer-perfect pastel nails. With her trademark ombre still visible despite her shorter length hair, the TV presenter went for loose, beachy waves. Poldark star Eleanor worked her colourings perfectly by teaming her rich red hair with a gorgeous olive green dress. The unique embroidery makes this one of our stand-out looks from the night, and we also adore her simple makeup and hair choices. Choosing to tuck her centre-parted hair behind her ears, Eleanor ticked off some serious hair trends with this low-maintenance ‘do.
With a very Spring/Summer appropriate look, Rochelle looked stunning in a chic white gown with a gold-panelled thigh split. Her accessorising was also perfect, as gold bar sandals, simple rings and a statement gold choker pulled the look together beautifully. In keeping with this year’s trend for understated styling, Rochelle also slicked her hair down into a low ponytail.
BAFTA Style 2016: The Men
With so much focus on the women’s outfits, it can be easy to overlook the dapper styling of the male celebrities. While the outfits never create much of a stir – a black tuxedo is a black tuxedo, after all – the grooming is where the men showcase their style credentials. Justin Timberlake, Idris Elba and Luke Pasqualino all showed off their groomed facial hair, while Justin and Luke both went for matte textured, swept back hair.
