The Edgy Bob

The Bob, The Pob, The Lob – no matter what the weather, this classic look is showing no signs of slipping from the style stakes as it returns season after season with a savvy new update. Often there is nothing quite like the original and don’t get us wrong, we’re still head over heels for the classic bob but Spring/Summer 2014 is bringing some serious edge for us to flirt with.

Originating during the First World War, the bob represents an independent woman who knows her personal style and isn’t afraid to show the world what she’s made of. Still a hot topic today, this look can be tailored to flatter almost any face shape, complexion and style which is what keeps it bouncing back each season. Much loved by a whole host of fashionistas from catwalk to cobbles, the bob has most recently been brought to fame by Victoria Beckham and Katie Holmes and Nicole Richie. This list of glitterati is bound to increase as the bob returns for 2014 in a variety of quirky new forms.

We’ve had the smooth bob, the long bob and even the ‘posh bob’ but now the edgy bob has come to steal the limelight. Think asymmetric lines, textured layers and bold bangs to perfect this look as lengths get shorter while style flies higher. Stacked layers add definition and attitude to the classic look for fine hair, while graduated lines allow for a flattering finish for a round face.  If you have curly hair, it is important to get your layers and texture in all the right places and ensure you are using the right products to get the most out of your edgy bob.

For advice on all of the above head on over to your nearest Regis salon where your stylist can point you in the right direction. A bob will keep those pesky split ends at bay while having you runway-ready in no time so go on, we dare you!
