X Factor: Live Shows Week 5
The big news in X Factor this week was the shock departure of Lucy Spraggan who, due to ongoing illness, decided to stand down from the show altogether. We’ll miss Lucy as she had a great personality, and she was really starting to show her potential. While this now leaves Ella as the only remaining girl, we imagine mentor Tulisa still has high hopes for her category.
This week’s theme was ‘Number Ones’, which is another fairly ambiguous choice, but allowed the acts to bring us a great variety of hits we know and love.
In their ongoing style wards, Nicole Scherzinger and Tulisa both dazzled this week, with Tulisa wearing a Britney-esque sparkling gem dress by Jovani, and Nicole opting for a leather peplum dress by Ermanno Scervino. Both ladies wore their hair down, with Tulisa opting for glamorous loose waves that allowed her complex dress to be the centerpiece; while Nicole wore hers swept to one side with plenty of volume.
Performing first was Rylan, singing Madonna’s Hung Up, who wore a show-stopping bright red suit – and the shoulder-décor was back! Remember the shoulder wigs he sported earlier in the series? Well, this week’s suit was accompanied by huge red and black feathers on each shoulder, superb! Rylan’s already starting to look as if he needs a touch-up on his roots, though – that’s some fast growing hair.
This week, Kye (who sang You Only Get What You Give by New Radicals – remember them?) was still sporting his Wild One quiff, but this week it had been styled slightly differently and was a little bit more relaxed – we told you it was a truly versatile cut. We’re so glad he’s stuck with this style, it seems to have changed him completely, he’s much more confident and cool!
Ella wowed once again with a performance of Firework by Katy Perry – that girl can sing! She wore her natural red hair down with a cute braid at the front and beautiful soft curls teased in to the ends, complimented by a pretty skater dress with a metallic gold skirt and black top with gemmed sleeves.
Nicole Scherzinger stole the show in the results the next day, wearing an incredible dress by Bibi Bachtadze lace dress and huge heels, with her hair in an elegant 1940s inspired up-do. Tulisa also looked elegant, also wearing a lace dress by Kruszynska Couture, with amazing Kurt Geiger heels (not quite as huge as Nicole’s!) and a full side ponytail.
Sunday night’s show was a real style treat, as we were treated to a double-bill of performing blonde beauties in the form of Rita Ora and No Doubt. Rita sported a crocheted catsuit, with her trademark red lips and curled blonde hair, while Gwen Stefani looked ravishing as ever – does this lady ever age? She strikes up serious blonde envy in us – so perfectly platinum and never a hair out of place.
The bottom two this week was Kye and Rylan, and yet again the results came to deadlock, leaving Gary Barlow absolutely furious when Kye was voted off as the person with the lowest vote from the public. This now leaves Gary with just Wildcard contestant Christopher Maloney left in the competition, so we’re pretty sure he’s going to try everything within his power to get rid of Rylan before the end!
