WHY CHOOSE HIGHLIGHTS?

Highlights/lowlights are fresh and youthful, and you have the added bonus of being able to add dimension and movement to any base colour.
Maintenance is noticeably less compared to if you were to change your hair colour entirely.
Highlights can accentuate eye colour, bring out cheek bones, and even slim faces.
They show off the lines of your hair cut, create depth, focal areas and the illusion of fullness.
They are a great introduction to hair colour — and, despite what you may have heard, they work for all hues regardless of whether you opt for a full head or half head of highlights.

WHAT ARE HIGHLIGHTS

Highlights are a great way of brightening your hair and lifting your natural base to create lightness and contrast. There’s a reason why all the girls in L.A. opt for sun-kissed highlights — single-process hair colour is certainly striking, but these ribbons of lightness work so well for any complexion.

Highlights are simply strands of hair that are lighter than your natural colour. We also offer Lowlights as a technique which involves darkening strands of hair using colours that are darker or the same depth as your natural colour to help add strength and dimension.

Highlights or Lowlights can be partially or fully applied throughout the hair, from a variety of colours, from bold to natural. Partial highlights, commonly referred to as half head highlights, are generally placed around your face to accentuate your features and subtly brighten up the overall appearance of your natural hair colour.  Half head highlights are a great way to lighten hair without undergoing a full overhaul of your natural hair colour. Full head highlights on the other hand, create a much more dramatic, all-over colour transformation. Whilst this is not the same as a full head colour, full head highlights create a more even, defined colour lift and hair lightening effect throughout your whole hair.

We appreciate that while there is no shortage of at-home highlighting kits and YouTube tutorials, this is definitely not the time to DIY. Professional stylists are specially trained to customize and tweak the colour application to best enhance your hairstyle. Not to mention they are the experts when it comes to considering things like skin tone and eye colour when coming up with the best colour for you. There’s also the rather important matter of hair health. Because any type of highlighting involves lightening the hair, there is potential for damage. Our stylists are not only trained on how to apply the colour properly in order to minimize this damage, but can also incorporate strengthening treatments like Smart Bond to help maintain the health and integrity of the hair.
